Where our Lead-Safe data comes from
The Lead-Safe phase map and the property lookup on this site were drawn by Toledo Automations from the public data below. They are unofficial. Owners should confirm their deadline with the City of Toledo. Results are a guide, and the City's record controls.
Data we used
- City of Toledo GIS: Lead-Safe priority tract layer (2020 census tracts with each tract's compliance deadline), from the City's "Rental Registry and Lead Safe" map at toledo.oh.gov.
- City of Toledo GIS: City Council districts and neighborhood areas, from gis.toledo.oh.gov. Area names on the map are approximate.
- Toledo Municipal Code 1760.12(a) (Ord. 167-25): the Lead-Safe phase schedule, Phases 1 to 8, December 31, 2025 to June 30, 2029, listed by census tract.
- Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 1767: the vacant residential building registry (register within 30 days of vacancy; renew each year by January 31). It is not phased by tract.
- U.S. Census Bureau 2020 census tracts: the tract numbers the code uses.
- Lucas County address points (Lucas County Auditor GIS, from the county 911 address system): used for the property lookup. A copy is stored on this site, and addresses you type are not sent anywhere or saved.
Other facts on this site
- Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 1760 and the City of Toledo Lead Safe page for property owners (toledo.oh.gov): certificate, renewal, agent and sale rules, the inspector questions, and the inspection-prep and pass/fail steps on the Lead-Safe Desk page.
- Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 1767 and the City's vacant building registration page: the January 31 renewal, the "vacant" definition, the $100 fee per building ($50 with an approved waiver), the waiver proofs and the portal steps.
- City of Toledo Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control grant, Lucas Metropolitan Housing (free lead risk assessment) and the Ohio Department of Health Lead Abatement Tax Credit: the "free help" list. Program terms change, so check with each program.
- Ohio Revised Code 5321.16 (security deposit return within 30 days) and Chapter 5323 (County rental registration): the anytime items on the sample calendar.

- This is not legal advice. Toledo Automations is not affiliated with the City of Toledo or Lucas County.
- A few tracts don't match between the code text and the City's map. We confirm those by hand.
